I decided to follow Carl's Junior on Twitter, because I've got one five minutes away from where I live. Really hard to resist not to go there. =)

TWITTER

I recently created a twitter account, so I decided to follow some companies that I like;
-       Carl’s Junior, it’s a fast-food brand that I discovered when I arrived here. It is so good that I decided to follow them on twitter so that I know when there are some new combos.
-       Roland Garros, I worked for them last summer and I will work for them again next summer that’s why I like to know all the news about this company.
-       Los Angeles Lakers, I can follow all the Lakers game with my phone, which is really convenient when I can’t watch television.
-       L’OREAL, I love this company and I hope I will be able to work for them one day, so I think it’s important to keep abreast of all the news about the company.
-       Le Monde, it’s a French newspaper, and thanks to that I can know everything that’s going on in my country in real time.

Twitter is a good way to keep in touch with the entire world. It is free for public. And a way less expensive for company to brand themselves.
However you can only post something with 140 letters and just 1 picture at a time. The fact that it’s a real time tool makes it even more effective because you can know the latest news real quickly.
Nevertheless, people don’t like twitter, and I have to say that before I came in the USA I was one of them. Because I thought twitter was useless, you just know what people think, but now I know that twitter can be used for more than that and for me the best part is that you can have discounts if you follow some companies.

ROI = Return On Investment

This tool is used to evaluate the efficiency of an investment. You just have to divide the benefit of investment by the cost of investment.

The first step is to establish a baseline, because to know if it’s working, you have to know where you started from. Then you compare the data from the beginning and after. The change between before and after is named delta.
Then create an activity timeline, to see and check everything that we’re doing online. And to finish, look at the sales transaction and revenue and measure our new consumers. How much did we earn, how many consumers did we get?

The 4th Screen

1)    What do we mean by the « 4th Screen »? What are the other 3 screens?

The fourth screen refers, in marketing, to small screen such as mobile phone or portable media player.
The four screen are:
- The movie screen
- Television
- Personal Computer
- Mobile phone

2)    What is « Location-based Services » (LBS)?

It is an application that you can find on phones, which use geographical position of the mobile device. Nowadays, most of the population use smartphones and applications that use LBS, for example when you want to find the closest Carl’s Junior next to your location.

3)    How does « mobile » connectivity impact marketing with regard to the use of social media?

Currently, everybody have Internet on their phone, and so access to social media as Facebook and Twitter. We are no longer passive consumers, but active participants.
Thanks to our phone, hundreds of millions of people have access to Facebook and twitter on real time to share and connect with people.
For example, if a person is waiting to long for a service in a store, the first reaction that we have is to tweet about the company, saying that we’ve been waiting too long. This will make a bad advertisement to the company, which can be seen by millions of people in real time. That’s why “mobile” connectivity impact marketing, and companies have to be careful with it.

4)   How does the 4th screen impact marketing strategy? Why might this be an opportunity for marketers? How might this pose a threat to marketing efforts?

The 4th screen impact marketing strategy because it’s a less expensive way for a company to advertise, and it’s seen by a lot more people in less time. But they should really pay attention to the fact that they have to personalize their platform so that they are recognizable.
But this can also be a threat because a bad advertisement is seen by a lot of people.

5)   Tablets like iPad are becoming increasingly popular and although there are plenty of early adopters there is still some resistance.

a- What are the reasons that so many have « jumped » and embraced tablets ?

Tablets are an easy way to stay in contact with the entire world with an easy access to Internet. These are also useful for all the people that spend a lot of time in public transports and want to work or watch a movie.

b- What are some reasons that many still resist the temptation to embrace mobile connectivity and or tablets ?

However, some people are still not embraced because Tablets are still expensive and most of them are wondering why they should buy one of them whereas they already have a computer.

Discuss why is social media an important part of an organization’s marketing strategy?
Social media is really important in the organization’s marketing strategy because this is a way of doing advertisement for a company in real time so the strategy has to be really good so that the customers’ impression is good and that make a good add for the company. On the other hand if one consumer is disappointed by a company than a lot of person present on social media will know about it.

Why it is important to market yourself?
With social media you can market yourself and everybody will be able to see it. Marketing yourself is a way of selling yourself so that people will want you to work for them.
If you do it well than you will have more choice for your own future. Moreover you will be an asset for the company you work for (or your future company). Or even a good asset for the product you are selling.

How can you build your online brand?
Creating a good profile Facebook, or a tweeter account or even a blog so that people who go on the web can find you. But you have to be careful about how you do it, so that people will notice as soon as they are on your page, what you are selling.
